Frontline

Your attitude must be like my own, for I did not come to be served, but to serve. -- Matthew 20:28

Frontline Volunteer Schedule

Assume the average distance across a room is twenty feet-- about ten steps. The question we hope to answer is:

What if ten steps-- just one thousandth of your daily average-- could actually IMPACT eternity?

In a coffeehouse atmosphere, Frontline Ministry works together to create and environment that is warm, comfortable, and inviting.

Frontline's role around Impact is essentially summed up in its title alone... The members of Frontline are among the first smiling faces seen while entering the building, handing out bulletins and a hearty handshake. Permeating the experience before and after service, Frontline seeks to develop friendships by engaging in lives around Impact by not only greeting, but KidZone registration, in-service ushering, management of the Common Grounds coffee bar, and Impact's information center, aptly titled 'The Hub'. Headed up by Deb Frisbie and supported by many humble volunteers and leaders, Frontline makes many feel right at home at Impact.

Here's what Deb has to say...

What is Frontline?

Deb: Frontline is part of the Impact culture to help people feel welcome, safe and comfortable all in a relaxed atmosphere. Our team of volunteers consists of greeters, ushers, servers in the café, among others.

How does it all work?

Deb: Well, typically an hour before service, a team leader will arrive to tidy up the common grounds area, then will make sure everybody is good to go as the rest of the team gets there. We serve coffee and a variety of teas and other drinks. Before each service we count bulletins, look at the service line-up for offerings and music, take care of KidZone registration, and very importantly greet the body of Impact as they come in the doors.

Any neat stories?

Deb: I always seem to find someone who needs a place to feel accepted and escape loneliness and brokenness. I’ve sat out here [during services] and encountered fathers, mothers, students, families, and people in general who have expressed this need. The coolest thing for me is when I am able to connect people to people. If somebody needs their car fixed, I love being able to say, “Hey, I’ll get you in touch with Bonnie Davis and LINKS”, or something like that. It’s all about the networking we get to be a part of with Frontline.

What are the important concepts you try to get across to the team?

Deb: Once a month we meet with the core group, the people who have taken the responsibility of being a team leader on a Saturday or Sunday. At those meetings I am always keeping a fresh outlook on moving forward and all the new things that are happening. We want to give the “wow” experience to people.

The “wow” experience?

Deb: Yes… it’s about hospitality and feeling welcome. So many new people come here and it’s such a cool thing to be noticed and remembered. We want to have encounters with people so that they would know that the community of Impact really does care about the individual and the heart. Specifically, the wow experience to me is coming into a place where you feel at home.

Anything to say to newcomers at Impact?

Deb: My hope is that through the pastors, leaders, and people, they feel like Impact is a home for their families. We try to make the church, the atmosphere, the people, even the building an experience that leaves no question to that regard. Frontline’s mission statement is “…to offer everyone who attends Impact an experience that leads them to desire an engaging and sustaining relationship with God and other Christ followers”.
